Pronounced [fubb – el] noun.
A Fubble is the small button which locks into the metal clip that hangs off on elastic ribbon attached to a suspender belt, girdle or undergarment and used to hold up stockings, three fubbles to a leg. The top most fabric of the stocking is trapped between the rubber fubble and the metal buckle. If the fubble is missing a good substitution used be a small coin like a sixpence, nowadays a one euro coin will suffice.
